We began our measurement unit! I read the story HOW BIG IS A FOOT that is a great way to show the need for having a standard unit to measure by. To further demonstrate, the student were asked to design a bed that was 3 feet wide and 6 feet long using the foot of someone in their group. Voila! We were able to see that all the beds were different and that this would never do!! They worked hard and really seemed to enjoy the activity.
