Yesterday, one of my bestest besties, Michelle and I went to Atlanta for our scheduled appointment with The Kids in Need organization! www.kinf.org

Picture
They are housed at the Atlanta Food bank on Jefferson street near West End Mall. (We only got lost once!) www.acfb.org

It was the best experience ever! Just like shopping for free!!! We arrived and were given a list of EVERYTHING on the shelves in ABC order!!!! You could tell they are used to working with teachers, lol!

We each got our own shopping cart to fill with items we needed for our classroom. AND because we brought our own bags and boxes to carry out we got to spin the wheel for a free prize! Michelle got a heater and I got an awesome and large storage tub!

Looks at all I for for our kids and our classrooms!!!

Don't bug me HAT

I found the idea of having a sign that reminded students not to disturb the teacher during her small group time. I've tried several things, but I have found that my DINT BUG ME hat is the easiest reminder. The kids think its funny and all I have to do is point to my hat if I'm being interrupted. It cuts down on loss of time in small group and teaches kids to work together to solve minor problems.

I am a major fan of Saxon phonics! We are required to use it at my school, but I'm grateful! im super excited to have these on the big screen Prometheus board now!I also wanted to provide the opportunity for my students to practice these skills at computer centers, at home, and to provide the means necessary to help parents understand the phonics their students are being held responsible for knowing. Go check out the two links under Kids Korner on my page to see!

This is what I've hung outside in the hallway to display student work! I bought mini clothespins at JoAnns, hot glued little scrap booking sunflowers to them, then hot glued them to the background that I bought at School Box! (actually my amazon friend Allison did it for me....thanks!).

Picture

I'm going to try these baskets as the students place to keep their pencils, crayons, glue, etc. I hot glued mini red solo cups inside the basket. Then, I place another cup with a number in each inside the cups I glued down. This is to keep them from falling down inside the basket and also allows the students to take their cup out of the basket to put on their desk when needed.

This is my Picnic Reading Nook! I found those green mats at Garden ridge!! They have a kind of woven pattern on them that makes it look like grass! I took the pic before I glued grass boarder on the baseboard, which I bought at School Box!

Picture

This is the backside of my storage shelf that rolls. I'll use this to display student work in the classroom.

Picture

I am using the backside of my bookshelf for this board. I used ladybug push pins and ball cnaim necklaces. For every 100 minutes a student reads at home and records on their reading log, they earn a bead for their necklace! The students LOVE this! We have a big ceremony at the end of the year when we total up

how many minutes their beads represent and present them like they do the medals at the Olympics. So fun!

Picture

Foam board, scrapbook paper, mod podge, vinyl used to cut out letters on my cricut, and painted ladybug from Hobby Lobby!

Picture

So this took me FOREVER! But I think it was worth it! I cut gingham, tulle, and burlap strips and tied them on yarn! The. I got glue the sunflowers onto the ribbons! I used command hooks to hang them around the board. I'm kinda in love with it....

Picture

I bought this shelf super cheap at Walmart I think..... And just added boarder!

Picture

I bought this dry erase word wall on Amazon.com. It had a construction scene all around the edges with bricks and cones and such. It didn't match my theme so I PAINTED it!!!

Picture

I decided to use sunflowers to label my computers! Each one is a letter(because I ran out of number stickers!).

Picture

This is the sign I made on vista print for my Picnic Reading Nook! This helps student choose a "Just Right" book.

And me SO happy it's done!
